Cat Vaccinations | Information About Cats Vaccinations For Your Lovely Cats

Many people doesn’t realize that kittens or cats need regular Cat Vaccinations just like as puppies and dogs do. By getting routine vaccinations for your feline companions would greatly reduced their risk of getting several feline diseases.

Below are some of the diseases and vaccinations that your cat should have to keep them healthy and fit.

Feline infectious enteritis also known as FIE is a severe and often fatal internal infection.

Cat “flu” has two types of Cat Vaccinations which are to prevent feline herpesvirus also known as FHV-1 and feline calicivirus (FCV).

Feline leukemia virus also known as FeLV vaccination is a must if your cat goes outdoors. It is very important to protect your cats from this very serious disease.

Feline chlamydophilosis causes conjunctivitis in cats. It is spread by direct contact between cats. If you have a multi-cat household or have kittens you should ask your vet if your cats should be vaccinated for this.

Once your cat has been vaccinated or receives a booster shot, you will be given a certificate stating that your cat has been vaccinated and for what. Many animal boarding places won’t allow your feline companion to stay unless you have a certificate verifying they have up-to-date vaccinations.

The average lifespan of a healthy indoor cat is 15 years. You have health insurance on the rest of your family and for peace of mind you might want to consider getting cat insurance on your feline friend.

Cats seem independent and self-sufficient, but cats need just as much care and attention as other pets. Cats are prone to a number of serious diseases and it is extremely important to ensure that your cat is vaccinated from an early age. Further prevention from diseases is necessary to maintain your cat’s health with annual booster injections.

Cat vaccinations are important as almost all catteries will only permit cats that have past records of vaccinations. This measure serves to protect your cat as well as to ensure other cats in the cattery are not infected should your cat be ill. Travel restrictions for pets can be stringent for most European countries. Your vet would also advise you on the necessity of giving your cat a rabies shot, particularly if your cat has contact with other feral cats in the neighborhood and gets into scrapes. Feline infectious enterovirus (FIE, also known as the feline panleukopaenia virus.

Feline herpesvirus (otherwise known as feline calcivirus, or cat flu)
Feline leukaemia. A vet will test a cat’s blood to see if there is already an immunity built up from previous contact, and if the test shows negative i.e. there has been no contact and therefore no immunity built up the cat should be vaccinated.

Feline Chlamydophila, which causes conjunctivitis. Vaccination may save your cat’s life should it get into any contact with any horrifying diseases. Although vaccines do hold risk for a small minority of cats who received them, proper vaccination is still the best solution and protection your cat can have against infectious disease.

General Report Of Deciding On Your New Family Pet – You Should Read This.

Choosing a new pet is an important step in life. It may sound like a small decision, but the type of pet you choose makes a difference. If you don’t do your homework or research, you may wind up with more responsibility or unexpected characteristics than you bargained for. There are many things you must know and understand about your potential pet in order to be sure to choose the right one. Will this potential pet fit in with your family? Also consider the amount of care the pet will require. One more thing to keep in mind is your budget.

One of the first and most important things to think about when you are considering buying a new pet is whether or not your new pet will fit into your family. You must consider allergies. If you or any of your loved ones are allergic to any specific types of pets, common ones include dogs or cats, obviously you should not choose that specific pet. Another thing you might consider is if you have children, depending on their age and size, a large pet may not be an appropriate choice. Always keep in mind that for a family to truly enjoy their pet, it must be the right choice.

Another thing you must be sure of before you choose a pet is the amount of care your potential pet will require. If you have a job with long hours or are the type that doesn’t stay home much, a more dependent animal such as a dog, requiring emotional support and letting out for bathroom breaks, may not be the type of pet you are looking for. Something definitely more independent, like a cat that has a litter box and requires a bit less attention would be more appropriate for your family.

Another thing to keep in mind when choosing a family pet is cost. You can spend thousands of dollars on pure-bred puppies or exotic birds, just to purchase them, let alone feed and care for them. You must definitely base your decision on whether or not your family can afford to make your pet comfortable and happy. If it will stress your wallet to properly care for a pet, do not make the purchase. Animals are living things. They must be cared for and properly nourished if they are to remain healthy and happy.

All in all, you must consider several things before you can appropriately choose a pet for your family. Consider whether your family will like the pet. Also don’t forget to make sure there is room in your budget for the type of pet you want. The final thing to remember is to know what type of care you can offer your pet, as far as whether the animal is dependent or not. Remember, choosing a pet is an important decision. Do some research and get to know the type of pet you want and make sure it is appropriate in all aspects. Read more other articles about miniature dogs and dog pounds.

Free Info About Pet Grooming Made Easy .

One of the most asked questions that I get before someone buys a puppy is does the breed require much grooming. Some potential owners don’t mind and the others do. This article is for the latter and how you can make pet grooming easier. In order to groom your dog you have to get you dog use to water. There are several steps that you need to take in order to accomplish the task.

Dogs do not like to take baths. Lets face it you are going to groom your pet properly you are going to have to give him the dreaded bath. One of the ways you can start getting your dogs to like water is to introduce your dog to it. If you have a swimming pool take your dog out there with you. Depending on the size of your dog you can sit the dog on your lap as you float around. You can also have a friend stand at one side of the pool and you at the other and put your dog in there. Both of you can encourage the dog to come to the other. Take the dog to the lake for the day and get you dog in the water. If you do this often you will find it easier to get your dog in the bathtub. In fact some dogs do like to take baths. One word of caution is don’t just throw the dog into the water as that may scare him badly and then you’ll have to start from square one.

In the bathtub your dog should feel relaxed. If he isn’t quite use to the water yet you can say soothing words to help him. The sound of your voice can reduce tension in your dog. You dog loves you and loves to hear your voice of calm gentle words.

Make the bath as comfortable as possible. If you’re scratching, scraping and pulling his hair out he will be on the edge. When you were a kid did you like it when your mom washed your own head? Enough said. Keep the water out of his eyes if you can and their nose away from the faucet. They will feel like they are drowning. Another relaxer for your dog is to take your time. Give your dog a message. Talk to them while you are doing it. Nothing like have fingers rubbed all over your back and it’s real easy with the soap on your dog.

Grooming does take patience. You can incorporate the kids help as they love to do it when they are little. Consistency is the key. It may take up to six months to get your dog use to the water. It doesn’t have to be a chore when you get the whole family involved. If after trying these suggestions and you dog does not respond well, you may need to go to a professional. Cats by instinct have very good vision and in the wild they much so rely upon it. However there are a variety of common illness’s that can cause your domestic cat to slowly go blind. Your cat may be suffering from Retinal Atophy which unfortunately is not a curable illness and only worsens over time until your cat may go completely blind.

Cats can have trouble seeing from Kidney Disease, Hypertension or Cancer as well. Cats much like us humans can even be diagnosed with Glaucoma. If you own a cat it is a good idea to become familiar with thes problems because some can be treatable and the sooner you notice the better chance’s your cat will have of getting the proper care.

I once had a cat that was blind in one eye but it was from a vehicle or it could have been another cat that must have done the damage. This cat was my favorite cat when I was still a kid. His name was Sim and it’s quite possible he out lived more than just the standard 9 lives. I believe it was his third time being hit by a car on our busy street that made him blind in one eye. My family and I took Sim camping with us one weekend up in the Gold Country in Northern California and it wasn’t the first time the cat went with us. Although this time the day we were ready to pack up and go, Sim was no where to be found. We for him a bunch too. We walked a good amount around the outer part of the site into the woods and he just wouldn’t show up. We evetually decided we better go because we needed to get back soon and were very sad all the way home of the five hour drive even.

Well we thought for sure we would never see him again but hopped he would be ok to survive in the wild. Several months later we had an oportunity to go camping again and drove up to the same site we camped before. We couldn’t believe it the second day we woke up to some noise in our camp site only to find Sim looking perfectly healthy and ever so happy to see us as we were to see him. On our way home the next day with our furry friend Sim being reunited with us was absolutely wonderful and I will never forget it.

Besides Sim being blind in the one eye I personally have never had a cat suffer with any kind of illness causing feline blindness. If you think your cat might be going blind it may not be the end of the world for your cat. Get more information about why your cat is having trouble seeing and if it isn’t treatable your cat has excellent hearing and smelling capabilities it will fine tune those skills to get around better than you might think.

Everything You Need To Know About Roundworms In Cats

Roundworms in cats are one of the most common internal parasites. These worms, which can grow up to six inches long, inhabit the intestines. Kittens with a severe infestation may die. This article will discuss feline roundworms.

Transmission

Mothers usually infect their kittens with these parasites. Cats infected late in their pregnancy may pass them to their kittens via milk. Cats can also swallow eggs harbored in the soil or consume a rodent that was infected.

Symptoms

A mild infestation of roundworms in cats usually cause no symptoms in either kittens or adults. It’s common for cats to experience coughing, diarrhea, constipation, and vomiting as the infestation worsens. Your kitten may also develop a pot-belly and a dull coat of hair.

Diagnosis

An infestation of roundworms can be diagnosed easily. Since there are usually plenty of eggs in an infected cat’s stool, a stool sample will be analyzed. The sample will be mixed with a solution so that the worm eggs will float and be detected easily.

Treatment

Cats can easily be treated for an infestation of roundworms. Your cat will have to take deworming medication. The medication will paralyze the worms. They can then be passed out through the stool. However, this deworming medication has no effect on immature worms or those that are still migrating to the intestine. This is why cats need to take multiple rounds of deworming medication a couple of weeks apart.

Can A Private Veterinary Help You?

So you have a pet. It isnt really possible for you personally to help it if it falls ill? It may not actually be necessary to put your pet down as a vet could actually help to save its life and add those years back onto its life. On top of this there are now many things that are now available to pets that twenty years ago would have been almost impossible to even think about. Newer ways to operate on them have come into use ranging from the simple limb repair to the more skilled pets cardiology which believe it or not can even include fitting a pacemaker into your cat or dog which simply put just goes to show how far technology has come.

An animal surgery could help your pet on any of the 365 days of the year, as many have emergency clinics that you can pop into whenever you need to as well as, some having numbers that you can ring to talk to a specialist whenever you think something may be wrong with your pet, and these numbers will actually have a person who understands veterinary and can help as opposed to someone who has no idea what is wrong with your pet and is simply on the line to assure you that everything is ok.

If, sadly your pet has to be put down then you do not have to simply get up and leave, not at all. Many of them will let you stay with your pet for a while afterwards as well as help when choosing to either let the vet take care of the rest or helping you with a suitable cremation.

There are some as well that offer blood transfusion so when something serious like a road traffic accident happens your pet will be able to gain back any lost blood.

So there are many ways that an %LINK1& can actually benefit your pet so it is worth considering joining one now so if something bad does happen you have someone there to help.

Pet Owner’s Guide To Heart Disease In Cats

It’s pretty common for cats to experience some form of heart disease. This condition causes no symptoms in the early stages, so it can be pretty hard to detect early. Cats of any breed or age can be at risk. This article will discuss cat heart disease.

Forms

There are three main types of feline heart disease. They include restrictive, dilative, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in felines. The muscular walls of the heart become thinner and weaker because of the dilative form. The hypertrophic variety is characterized by the walls become more rigid and thicker. The restrictive type is less common and occurs when the walls are progressively replaced by scar tissue.

Symptoms

Since cats usually experience no symptoms early on, this condition can suddenly be fatal. If you’re not paying close attention, you may not notice signs when they do appear. Common symptoms include difficulty breathing, vomiting, loss of appetite, and breathing with an open mouth. Signs of an advanced condition include fainting and paralysis.

Diagnosis

Most vets usually only find something wrong with your cat’s heart during routine examinations. This is often detected via a heart murmur. Some of the tests your cat may have to endure include an electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, and chest x-ray. An echocardiogram is usually the best way to detect a problem.

Treatment

If your cat’s heart hasn’t start to fail, the condition may be able to be controlled. Your cat may be given diuretics to help decrease the heart’s workload. If the muscular walls are too firm, calcium channel blockers may be necessary.

Your cat may also be given vasodilators to reduce his blood pressure. The heart’s workload will also be eased by this type of medication. Aspirin and betablockers may also be used to treat this condition.

There are many diseases that can possibly affect your pet like cat pancreatitis. Luckily for you, www.cat-illnesses.com provides all the information you need. Stop by right now to learn about some of these health problems.

Intro To Four Causes Of Cat Kidney Disease

It’s relatively common for older cats to develop kidney disease. However, it can affect cats of any age. Cats can develop problems with their kidneys for many reasons. Let’s take a look at some of the most common causes.

Blood Flow

Cats that don’t have adequate blood flow to their kidneys may develop disease. If blood doesn’t flow properly through the kidneys, they won’t be able to remove wastes effectively. This will allow toxins to accumulate in the bloodstream. Inadequate blood flow through the kidneys can be caused by drugs, dehydration, or heart disease.

Toxins

Toxins are one of the leading causes of feline kidney disease. Cats commonly lick up antifreeze puddled on the driveway. Antifreeze is devastating to the kidneys as it quickly destroys them.

Other toxins that can cause this disease include solvents, pesticides, and heavy metals. Cats may also develop problems with the kidneys after taking certain medications. Two such medications include aspirin and antibiotics.

Cancer

Felines with certain types of cancer may also develop kidney disease. Cancer rarely originates in your cat’s kidneys. In most cases, the disease has spread from another organ. This usually affects older felines. However, cats of any age can develop it.

Cysts

Cats may also develop kidney disease because of cysts. These cysts will progressively get larger. Also, they can occur in one or both kidneys. The cysts will start putting pressure on the kidneys as they grow. Waste products will then accumulate in the bloodstream since the kidneys won’t be functioning correctly.

Many different health problems can affect your pet such as cat hyperthyroidism. Luckily for you, www.cat-illnesses.com provides all the information you need. Make sure you come by to read all about some of these health conditions like cat allergies.
